Jane Canfield

Hobart Paintings

We just returned from another road trip in Dot, the Kombi (sadly minus the dogs this time!) as we went on the ‘Spirit of Tasmania’ , crossing Bass Stait to spend a week and a half camping and collecting inspiration up and down he East Coast. However, I was very taken with the Hobart streets, which hold a special place in my heart, especially around West Hobart as when I was little, we lived in the area. My Dad was a collected artist (Tony Canfield) and for a number of years worked in the Hobart area. I have also spent many holidays visiting my Auntie near Hobart. This body of works is from Spring in Hobart, the Indigo blue of Mount Wellington looming over the city. The history and the winding streets really fascinate me.
