About Me

Jane was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1967 and grew up in an artistic family. Her father, Tony Canfield, was a collected artist, inventor, motor mechanic, and designer. Every weekend, they would go camping while her dad sketched and painted. This love of working in nature has followed her to this day, along with her passion for classic cars.

To date, Jane has held over 15 solo exhibitions.

Jane was accepted into graphic design college at Randwick TAFE, Sydney, in 1984. She spent 20 years working in the industry but always continued to draw and paint. She first came to notice for her strong linocut prints, but it was not until her dad passed away in 2004 that she became a full-time artist.

Jane was a wildlife rescue volunteer for 17 years, with a particular interest in flying foxes and bats. She was also one of the founding volunteer directors of the Katoomba and Upper Blue Mountains Bendigo Community Bank branch, which returns thousands of dollars every year to not-for-profit and community groups in the region.

Jane remains deeply committed to environmental and animal welfare issues, continuing her advocacy work for the natural world that has inspired her art throughout her life.
